Podcasts are free audio broadcasts online. You can listen to them wherever and whenever you want. I like to use my computer and my phone. It’s like your own personal radio station catered to whatever you want it to sound like. You  can listen to a podcast through a website (streaming). Or, you can download a podcast on your phone, or tablet, or computer, and you can listen to it anytime, even offline.

Do you want to know how to listen to a podcast? Here’s how!

DESKTOP

Download: Open iTunes. Once you have iTunes open, go to the iTunes store, and click on the “podcasts” menu option on the left. This will take you to iTunes podcasts home page, where you can search for podcasts by category, genre, featured… You can also type in the title if you know it. You can listen to an episode by clicking on a show, and then clicking on an episode. You can stream from itunes or download the episodes – all free!

A couple of things to note:
– If you love a podcast – don’t forget to subscribe to it! (click “subscribe” button) Every time a new episode is recorded, it will be added to your stream in your app or program. There are a few settings to play around with for subscriptions.
-Downloaded podcasts use up lots of hard drive space. You may want to delete old episodes that you’re finished with.
-If you don’t use Apple, there are several other options for Podcatching (searching, downloading, and listening to podcasts). Desktop: Miro, Juice, Firenze Smartphone: Downcast, Pocket Casts, MyPod, Cast++ (or just search google for “podcatchers”)
